Gauges, What are you using?

Hey guys, I'm nearing the end of my build and I'm trying to decide which way to go with the gauges. I only need a A/F Wideband, Oil Pressure, and Water Temp gauge right now. The guy I buy my parts from, put these together (Links below) but some of my friend's only recommend the Autometer gauges.

He will sell me the package for $615. I was checking out the Cobalt gauges, and they seem pretty nice. They are a bit cheaper too. I can tell the AEM wideband is pretty freaking cool. Thoughts/Advice?

Those gauges seem pretty nice, but i agree with your friends, I'd go with the Autometer gauges. I did just buy some myself for my car. (Boost and Oil).

Id check out the Autometer, great price and good quality. I also like the look of theirs face plates

I only added a boost gauge and a shift light to my car. The factory instrument cluster already has oil and water gauges and I think that's plenty. I don't see the need to install a shit load of gauges and turn my mustang dash into an airplane cockpit. Many race teams don't run a shit load of gauges either and for example only run a warning light for oil pressure.

The factory oil and water gauges are enough? You realize they are little more then a dummy light after the computer dumbs them down right?

I run A/F, boost and fuel pressure(which I need to fix, broken connectors). Honestly, I only watch the A/F one the most. I love my sport comp II gauges as they match my stock gauges pretty decently. I run the AEM wideband and love it! As for the oil pressure and what not, I have enough faith in my car that it won't magically drop oil pressure or overheat on the track considering I drive 2 hours to race it.

cobraracer46, the oil pressure in the dash is a gauge looking idiot light. I learned this on here as well, the sender will activate at about 10psi and just send the needle to the same spot every time. My Ford trucks are like this too.

If your not interested in having gauges all over and still want to be able to monitor everything check out the multi-gauges at PLX designs. Had mine for a while now and love them. With 3 displays I can monitor 4 different areas with 6 sensors. I have water/oil temp, oil/fuel pressure, Vac and AFR that can monitor. You can set upper/lower limits on them so that if you are watching one and the other goes high/low it will alarm to tell you.

I run Autometer Phantom II water temp, oil temp, and volt for now. I plan to add fuel press, oil press, and wideband a/f ratio gauges soon. I stand by Autometer without question after 15+ years of great performance and reliability from their gauges

i have autometer c2 gauges for everything. work great but can be blinding. autometer has a dimmer module that i need to get and install.

I got a Stewart Warner oil pressure and water temperature gauge through summit.
Haven't had any complaints.

Yeah, I'm going to run the engine N/A for awhile. I don't have the $5K it's going to cost me to go turbo right now. Soo, I won't need a boost gauge right now. I'll check out the fuel pressure. I might just end up buying the AEM Wideband, then Oil Pressure/Fuel Pressure and Water temp from Autometer, that's a bit better priced. I don't see the point in paying nearly $200 for an oil pressure gauge, when I can buy one from Autometer for $100+.

It seems like the mustang crowd is all about Autometer. I'm going to check them out and see what I can dig up.

Well if you like perty lights then definitely check out plx. You can display the sensors in graphical/time based display or multiple pre-programmed displays as well as fully customizable.

All well and good, but has anyone recessed new gauges into the factory gauge pod? That's what I wanna see. I want to put some autometer Nexus gauges in the factory gauge cluster and replace all the old stock ones. That would look awesome! And it would go a long way towards making the old 94 car up to date with modern cars.
