90 Mustang Gt >8.8 Positract 4 lug with 3.73 gears

---

I have a SN95 '98 V6 t5, open rear, rear disk brakes, 5 lug. Can I buy this rear and put my axles in it to give 5 lug? Also, is the ratio the same as on my car (bonus)?

Or, I guess I could with a lot of effort swap parts and make the open gear a posi? are the internals compatible?

I'm road racing the '98 and need traction coming out of turns.

Thanks,

From what I understand, the fox body rear end housing is the same housing used on the sn95. BUT, the sn95 used longer axle shafts. So yes it will work but you will need longer axles.

99-04 is wider, 94-98 is the same size.

i have a friend who used his 7.5" 94-98 axle shafts in a fox 8.8" housing

it will work

The 94-98 8.8 axles are .75" longer to compensate for the added disc brakes... You can take the axles, brakes (including brackets)
and put them on your fox 8.8 housing and call it a day.

Hmm.... I was checking for prices on said rear end I saw for sale to see what they go for, and happened on an article...

http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/116_ford_8_8_rear_end/limited_slip_differential.html

This says that they made the 94-99 rears with 31 splines, vs 28 for the earlier ones like that guy is trying to sell. Hmm.... doesn't seem like those axles would fit after all. *#*(%^&

that is wrong, they dont have 31 splines. but that doesnt matter because you wouldnt be using 94-98 8.8 axles anyway. you would be using 94-98 7.5" axles in a foxbody 8.8.

and all 7.5" axles are 28 spline

94-98 Mustangs all use 28 spline axles, the axle shafts between the 7.5 and 8.8 of these years are interchangeable.
