so i have a 94 gt convertible, automatic. needless to say, its slow. when i got it i knew nothing about cars, it was just a cheap first car. i started to read into mustangs, fell in love with the car, started some body work, and realized i want a 5 speed coupe. so now im just finishing up the body work to sell it. i removed the antenna and side skirts before i was gonna sell it. i removed the antenna hole now i just need to paint it. i also started to shave the side skirt holes, just needs primer and paint. other than that, the convertible roof seperated from the back windshield at the bottom. i was wonderin how much a new roof costs at pick a part or something, and what else i could do that would be cheap, but help me either sell it faster, or get more money once i sell it. any suggestions? thanx in advance for replies

I wouldn't lower it if you want to sell it. Throw that money into a set of GT rims. It would be more desirable with stock wheels then V6 wheels and being lowered. Just my .02

The new owner would need to buy a new window and have it installed at a upholstery shop. $$$$

Nothing will re-attach that back sadly. I tried everything on my old car.. nothing worked for long term.

^^^ I have a black one i was trying to sell, but never was able to. I brought it for my 1997 GT for the same reason as you, but never got to install it since i lost the car.

Only thing is you'll need a new top also which will cost a shit load $$ to install lol.

But the window with fabric cost $120 brand new online

The convertible top is a two piece, and a frequent problem. The piece you need is basically a window with a vinyl shroud sewn around it. No idea how much it would cost used. But I font think fixing it will help you sell the car. A buyer won't know it leaks until they've left it out during an EXTREMELY heavy storm. The car will either smell funny due to the water, or they'll notice the swishy noise it makes when they cut corners sharply

A painted car will sell better than a primered one. Honestly if you had left the holes for the side skirt, I'd doubt they would even know they were there or was missing a part. It's a 17yo ford. Your average buyer dont really notice things like this.

Thing is, whatever time or money you put into it, you won't get back. All you'll do it reduce the time it's on the market. If a buyer is looking at 2 mustang GTs the nicer one will sell if the price range is the same. Paint it, wash it, then sell it.

But honestly, if it were me, I'd just get a manual transmission, computer, and removable hardtop, and then my desire for a manual coupe would be complete. Yeah, I'd still have the weight of a convertible, but at least I'd have everything else. Listen 1994 GTs are going to be slow. The coupe you get won't satisfy you. My car is an automatic convertible and is SO much faster than a factory manual GT. I say beef up the car you have. Chicks dig convertibles. Trust me, I know.

well ill adress a few points you made. first, the window is completely seperated from the vinyl, so they would notice. 2nd, i would not leave it primered, i am spot painting it. 3rd, im not worried about other mustangs for sale, im in california, theres always a market for everything. 4th, i know these cars are slow stock, but this isnt the type of car one would leave stock, at least not an owner on this forum, a set of gears and it would be up to speed. but i have considered a tranny swap. and as for the removable hard top, all i can find is the smooth line one, and that shit leaves our cars confused with their identity. its s197 styling for a sn95, dont liek the look. but if you can find another, care to share? id love to do what you suggested, i just cant find the hardtop

Im still kicking myself for the 1994-95 factory hardtop one guy was selling. He actually collected them since he owned a 95 black cobra convertible, he figured he collect parts in case something happened to the one he had. Well for about $1000, he sold the complete kit! including storage cart, rear deck tray, all the levers, even a VHS explaining installation. I have NEVER seen a complete kit for sale. At the time I had the money, but he only posted it in 2 forums, neither of which I visited. He was trying to sell it forever, so I tried my best to contact him... ...just missed it.

...I guess if I find one, Im keeping the info quiet to myself. I just dont understand why they dont try to recreate the old one. I believe the ugly ones were made before the s197s. Im real close to the point where Im thinking about chopping off a coupe and creating my own. I keep occasionally seeing a ford shell for the original but it comes with no glass, headliner, hardware, nothing. Not worth the price.

ya i been thinking of buying a wrecked coupe, as long as the roof is intact, and making a mold of it so i can make a fibergalss removable top. it woould take a lot of time and effort, but i think it would be worth it for the outcome. truly would be 1 of a kind. or maybe not, since if i were to go threw with it i would make a mold, i could make and sell em. just dont know if people would actually wanna buy em
