Why DSS? Why spend the money on the level 20? Its just a stock block no matter how you look at it.
Why those small heads?
What made you choose the anderson cam?
Why not a 347 over a 331? It'll make more power for the same money.
talk to you local tuner and see what maf they recommend, some are ok w/ the lightning 90mm since its a common one and many know how to deal w/ the transfer function on it.
I ran a 90mm L maf on my 302 w/ an anderson loadio and an A trim.

what are the plans for the car?
If you're set on a 331 i'd look at the boss block so you aren't picking up parts of the cam out of the oil pan when the the grand canyon effect takes over.

forgot about the SHP. go that route and do a 347.

Its amazing how many peeps fall for that race prepped block crap they try and push on ya. Very few actually understand that all in all its just a stock block.

Eagle crank, Eagle rods, Diamond pistons. Stock block. Trick flow Heads, F cam, upper/lower intake, 24lb injectors, 70mm throttle body and 70mm MAF with a tune. put a 200 shot on it and let the bitch eat!

So I am pretty set on a 331 guys, I honestly could not tell you why Ive just always wanted to go 331 stroker. I just checked out some of the Boss 302 blocks and have changed my mind,

What heads would you recommend, I figured they would of been good for the setup.

Before you get too far into everyones suggestions for heads n such, what are your intentions with the car? Street? Street/strip? Weekend toy? Uber-high flow heads and related cams may provide stellar numbers on a dyno but could equate to a turd in traffic.. After all, how many times do you hit 6,000 rpms going to McDonalds?

+1 Boss or Dart block

Also, ten people have ten opinions. Remember it's YOUR car and make decisions accordingly.

no kidding, its easy to spend other peoples money.

After stumbling through my last build many times I'm a firm believer in patience paying off. Buy the best stuff you can afford so you don't have to do it 2 or 3 more times. Intakes and cams are chump change compared to dropping $4500 on a short block but they will kill a good foundation quicker than anything. As for heads on a supercharged car they will be the bottle neck and mean the difference between 450hp at 15psi or 500 at 12(you get the idea)

Exactly, I stood at this very crossroads last year. I could either spend premium money on the top or bottom end. I chose to build a stout short block and upgrade the HCI down the road if needed. I doubt I'll come close to enough power to split my 351w SVO block! :)

Patience is paramount with cars. Most people go wrong because they want instant gratification.

Simply because only so much power can be made with a stock block. Sure there are people who've ran 10's or better with stock stuff but not for long. A stout 331 with a decent HCI and a blower will make enough power to kill a stock block with ease. A Dart block is kinda like carrying a condom, it's always there when you need it most.

Gosh, what ever did people do before Dart blocks were around. *rolls eyes*

If you want to stay around 500 horsepowers, have a safe tune, and won't be spinning it to the moon, the stock block will live a long happy life.

Oh, and I say just buy the new 5.0 coyote motor and put it in. I'm sure complete swap kits will be available shortly.

Paul.
