We had some good weather here at our local track this weekend and I came away very happy. The best part is that this is the first time I have been able to get my car to hook.  I ran a best of 13.91 @ 97.91mph with a 1.87 60ft. This is 4th time at the track since I have gotten the car.  My best the the first time to the track as 14.95 with the only mod being a K&N filter.  I have since did the following: PI cam and intake, 4:56 gears, 50/50 drag shocks, prothane bushings in the lower control arms, flowmaster dumps, spec 1 clutch, et streets, removed sway bars and fog lights.  Two things that should be noted are that the car has about 150k on the whole car and I only paid 1500.00 for the car when I bought it.  Most of the parts that I have installed have been used stuff or new stuff bought from individuals that changed direction. I think I have about 2700 in it.  Guess I have to start looking for the 12s now.

nice time for those mods...damn ...4.56s? lol

Is that not too much gear? lol
They were a deal that I couldn't pass up. I do have to stretch it out just a hair across the finish line. It seems the my best shift point is around 5200 and it crosses at about 5800. I figured they would be good for when I get some aftermarket cams.

Yea, they will be good with some cams and ported heads.

5200 is short shifting the hell out if that if you have pi intake and cams man....you should be shifting closer to 6k with those PI parts

You could be right.  Before this weekend I have been so frustrated with traction problems that I have not really focused on shift point.  I am power shifting and the motor flashes 300-400 rpm between gear changes and it rpms so fast in first because of the gears that I have to be careful not to hit the rev limiter.

Traction problems are mostly due to suspension. MT DR's will hook hard but if your fighting your suspension then you wont get the full bennifit of them either, belive me In in the same situation and am working to fix it. You said that you have prothane bushings in the lower control arms, do you still have stock LCA's?

Yes I still have the stock lowers. It was cheaper to just buy the bushings but it was a hell of a lot of work. If I had it to do over, I would just buy some aftermarket lowers. At the track I use MT ET Streets and they did a great job this time compared to my recent trips. I was able to dump the clutch at 3800-4000. I have bfgs for the street and its like being on ice!!!

yeah to get full benefits your going to need aftermarket LCA. Bushing will help but wont over come the huge disadvantage that stock control arms have as in track use
