So the wife tried to make something different for dinner last night, and unfortunately for her, it didn't turn out so well, So i ran down the road to burger king, being by myself, and it being cool outside and not much going on, i decided to get on it, and drive it like i stole it... well, i noticed everytime i powershifted to 2nd, it would backfire on me... not bad, but enough to hear it, and notice a slight surge as it did it... what could it be caused by? i was scratching my head last night thinking about it... it never went away, and it's only from 1st-2nd shift... somebody help me! lol...

Yeah I get that occonasially too. Is your fuel pressure set to stock? Timing? I used to get it worse but I lowered my fuel pressure slightly back to stock (had it higher for a while) and it seemed to help slightly, but if I really slam 2nd hard I get one still once and a while.
Intrested....

It doesn'y have a FPR. so i would assume it's set to stock. don't know what my timing is set at. I haven't changed it in the year and a half i've owned it.

Ok im not a mechanic but ill give you my .02. If its coming from your intake your intake valve is hanging open, if its coming from your tailpipe your exhaust valve is hanging. Its def in your timing though I would think. Someone that knows more about it will chime in im sure.

it's from the tailpipe... i was thinking timing... i thought about running this tank of gas out and putting in some 93 octane and see if it helps anything... if not, this is an excuse for me to tell the wife i need a timing light :dancing6:
now if we could just figure out my brothers problem on his GT... he said it surges, i think he needs a tune. i don't think the owner before him had it tuned when he got the CAM installed.

From the tailpipe as well, Okay mine started up again worse yesterday but mines not hard shifting any more, its when I go like 1/2-3/4 throttle after shifing into 2nd, it tends to hesitate and does a little backfire, I did have my Dist Cap off and was testing my magnentic pickup so im thinking mabye my dizzy is on its way out? Because it seemed to happen again after putting my dizzy stator, rotor, and cap back on?! (used to happen before but went away sorta) Im running 94 Octane and 14* timing
