To be powder coated glossy black. Guy said he might have then done by Friday!! That would be cool. I then stopped by my upholsters. He called to tell me he just about has my seats done. That's all I knew. Turns out he has been slammed with business. Sure I want my seats, but that's OK with me. If I knew they were off sitting on their backsides, that's piss me off. Turns out, they are having to completely redo all the leather! It looked fine, but the stock leather could not be reused. That's also why it is taking so long. He had the bottoms done & out in the sun. They looked pretty cool! Didn't think to bring my camera. He says if I come to get my rims Friday, I can stop in to get these seats. My car's fixing to get a lot nicer!! Can't wait!!

Re: Took my rims today/powder coat shop...

I wanted to turn my '03s black. I just love black rims. I figured it go OK with what I have done to my car, too. When I 1st thought up my paint scheme, I wanted it all to be done in Anthracite. The powder coaters don't have that, who I'd use. Forgot what he called it today. Instead of waiting for the rims to be done, so the painter could then match the color, I just switched to black. If it wouldn't cost me a lot, I'd have it all black!!
Forgot who did this for me:

When I 1st called them, it was $35/rim + tax. I tried to pay today & he said it might be cheaper.

Did you have to get the tires taken off?

I thought powder needed to be heated fairly well so I am guessing yes. Not to mention they take mor space up in theoven.

Most single stage powder coats cure for 20 min after flowout at 400ish degrees, so yeah they would have to remove the tires. Looking forward to seeing the pics.

not only that but you'll want the powdercoat to wrap around the wheel lip.

Re: Took my rims today/powder coat shop...

Had them removed. Even remembered to remove the valve stems! On that lip part, I'm having the entire wheel done. I don't like the chrome lip only. Looks way off, to me. I can't do the 1/2 & 1/2 way now. That's how it looks to my brain.

Uh my seats, I asked them to add in the saddle inserts like is on a Termi seats. They didn't do it that way, though. I can't describe, really remember who the bottoms were done. I just know it's not what I 1st wanted. It will work fine though. I wanted the 2 color look. Later thought it would just remain cooler. In out Texas 100+ degree temp, maybe this way will stay cooler?

I like the black but after having black wheels for about 5 years I have been thinking of going with something different.

Re: Took my rims today/powder coat shop...

I got a call around lunch saying my seats are ready!! Went from being close to free after we trade seats. After that bracing broke, maybe I'd be out $200? When he called & after basically all new leather, it'll only be $475. I have it, but ouch!! I was going to go get them today & drive back maybe tom for my rims. I am trying to hold off til tom. I've waited about since Oct of 08 for these? I want them now!!!

I've had chrome since '04. I was going to buy the same rims & keep chrome. I just decided I will like the blacks more, so I prob wouldn't swap much. I still later, if I want to.

I thought about that yesterday. I guess I just wash when I wash my car? What can I touch up with? I want them dang near spotless, like I could do on my chrome. I have a PowerBall, that PowerCone thing. All kinda of cleaner products. Or like Windex type stuff?

its black man, soap and water. I have seen people cover temp scratches and nicks with a sharpie that you had to get close to see teh difference.

Wash them with soap and water and keep them waxed/polished just like you would chrome.

Re: Took my rims today/powder coat shop...

I thought they looked fine when I picked em up. I drove back say 60 miles to my house. I stopped @ a friend's house to get some wax. The guy said to put wax on them. When I got to putting on the wax, 2 of the rims look fine. The other 2 look like just sh*t!! Not sure of the word, like the PC chipped off. Did they need to uh, cure more? I went ahead & finished waxing them up. When I calm down more I'll put up the pics. Not in the best mood right now!

Is that a normal thing? Or do I take them back to redo. Just looked @ them again. I think they all have @ least 1 spot on them. Maybe the 2 aren't as bad, still not good. What do I do? He's not back til Monday.
