Just out of curiosity, how do the gt 40 heads and intake compare to other aftermarket setups ie. trick flow, edelbrock, bbk... etc.
Is it a considerable difference from stock?
The setup would be going into a new motor with a new bottom end and vavlve train.

I really like the AFR 165cc and 185cc heads but I must settle with the fact that it is out of my budget range.

I'm looking for the best bang for the buck in other words...
Any help would be greatly appreciated....

PS.
1995 GT
3.73 gears, cold air intake, straight H pipe, borla mufflers...
future plans: keep it N/A and a healthy shot of nitrous. street car/ occasional track

Thanks

well as far as dyno numbers go for an average setup, gt40 heads, intake, and an e-cam puts down about 230rwhp.
trickflow and holley dyno at around 300rwhp. the first combo you could put together for less than $1000, whereas
trickflow or holley kit run around $2400.

It depends on the setup of the short block and if the GT 40 heads/intake are completely stock. For example, you can take a 306 w/ light weight internals (including cut crank), stock cam, GT 40 heads (valvetrain work only) and a stock GT 40/Cobra in, and make approx. 310 rwhp. Port the heads/intake, slap in an E cam and let's say you gain another 30 - 40 rwhp.

Your saying a 306 with stock cam, gt40 heads with no port work, and a cobra intake can make 310hp. Add a mild cam and port work and your making 350ish???? Your talking about flywheel power right?

Granted, there are various 306 recipes, but here is approx. 310 rwhp.... All bolt ons, but using a stock Cobra intake, GT 40 heads (non-ported) and a stock cam. There is a grocery list of tricks in the engine/accessories/drivetrain, but...

Short block;
• Stock block 4.03" bore, decked, line honed ect…no hard block
• Stock crank lightened and cut 10/10
• CP custom pistons, 357 grams coated tops and skirts
• Light weight tool steel pins
• Probe Ultralite 5.09" rods
• Balanced rotating assembly
• True stock Ford OEM camshaft
• 9-Pos timing chain
• Romac aluminum balancer
• .080†wall pushrods
• Stock lifters
• ARP studs top and bottom
• Upgraded oil pump drive shaft

Heads;
• GT-40's (not P heads)
• 53cc chambers
• Ferrea valves
• 7/16 ARP rocker studs
• 7/16 1.72 rockers
