gt-40p heads

well i am thinking about getting a set off of an explorer because i am to cheap to rebuild mine.
do i have to put on the gt-40 intake or can i just run my stock intake.
and i know i will have to get some shorty headers

You can reuse the stock intake. Try and see if you can pickup a used explorer intake (upper and lower) as well (basically a GT-40 design)..can be had for a cpl hundred bucks if you look around for the deals.

with the p heads you will need special p headers

the explorer intake should fit with up to a 1" spacer under the stock hood, at least my 1/2" had some more room when i had that.

The heads are marked P from explorers and GT for the real 40's

cobra heads also had 3 ridges in the end of the head, and explorers had 4 ridges. like everyone said, it will all bolt up, just have to get the headers, since the plugs were straight, not angled

You wont find a set of P specific headers made to use on the 94-95 5.0L. IE, none of them will have the bung on the passenger side header for the EGR tube.

I would make sure the heads are ok first before you just stick it on your car.

Make sure the valve seals and guides are ok etc. No need to install them twice.
