ok. so i was in the line at McDonaldds earlier today and my car was fine other than the A/C would blow out hot air(like a vent from outside) and then blow cold just for a second then back to hot. reach down to count my change and look up to see steam coming from the left side of my hood. i pull out of line, park , and turn off the car and began smelling antifreeze. got out as steam flowed out over the next 30 minutes or so and antifreeze was all over the pavement. called my grandpa and he came out to help. we poured water into the radiator with the car cranked and it would hold it for a minute and then start spewing all of it out. went and bought a thermostat HOPING maybe that it was closed or something and that didnt work as thermostat was fine, also the radiator fans aren't turning. long story short the car has been towed to my house and were gonna try and find out what may be the cause tomorrow. hoping its not a blown head gasket or anything. any ideas as to what this could be would be appreciated. as of now..... 98 GT "Julia" is down... :/

im gonna go a head and say since it was on the drivers side that it was the pressure cap on the coolant tank.. pull your radiator and have it pressure tested..also go ahead and replace your thermostat..

my car did the same exact thing and it was because the radiator was cracked

when you have the top off the radiator and crank it does the water shoot out the top if so, head gasket.

I hope its not a gasket. You checked all hoses for splits and the intake for coolant coming out?

My rad cap gave me issues one time like that and freaked me out. I took it off and put it back on never to have that problem again.

well as of now we believe its just the fact that the fan isnt working. the car was fine until i stopped in the line @ Mcds and sat still. then she got hot and did what came natural lol. the connector that plugs into the fan isnt working. its getting power but not turning the fan on. we some wire and ran it straight from the battery posts to the connectors on the fan and it would turn on then. so idk if its the connector thats F'ed up or a relay or what. but as of now im HOPING its just the fan. any ideas?

There is a sensor somewhere that controlls the fans...that might be your issue with the fans...pd somethin or another?. Prayin its not a head gasket.

Most likely a bad CCRM, or the ECT sensor possibly.

Check the fan when you kick the a/c on too, it should turn on
If it doesn't it is pretty much the CCRM.

it is in the pass. side fenderwell you can see the wires going into it from the engine bay, it's by the maf.
I have the same issue. I wired up a switch to the fan (high speed), I also have a 180 thermo. I only use the fan when I am idling for more than 30 sec. or in stop and go traffic. I works great.
