Putting some gt40p heads and explorer intake on my fox with a e303 cam..

And I already have the cam so thats what im going to be using.. I know letter cams are old but I already got it so might aswell use it..

Now what I want to know is what RRs and springs to use in the heads.. I live close to summit so id prefer to buy them there instead of ordering them online unless its a huge difference in price..

Look in the FRPP catalog. They supply part numbers for springs that are specced for that cam.

I hope you are gonna get your CR up around 10.5:1... Otherwise you are going to have a gutless turd. And you can thank that cam.

^ Love yer hate for the e cam. :)

I run the 40Ps, E303, Crane/Cobra 1.7 rr, and the heads have TFS stage 1 springs. That is all. Should be good for 260 at the wheels with a healthy shortblock and a exhaust.

I know, you and I have already had this discussion. That's not the common, I bet not one pushrod Cobra on this site has duplicated that.

One of my competitors made 230 at the wheels on a 200k long block, 88 Fox with everything stock except a off road h and side exit exhaust. Everyone else had to have at least a GT40 intake and lower mile motors. Go figure.

Wife has a 95 with Trick Flow intake, GT40P heads, stock rockers and E303 cam with some minor bolt ons and made 273 rwhp. Yes the number cams are outdated but there's a reason they still sell them. They work pretty decent. If they were junk they wouldn't sell them because no one would buy them.

it depends on if you want to get the heads machined for stud mount.
stock replacement is pedestal. and are direct bolt down. The pedestals are pressed into the head and under high HP can pull out of the head.
Studs are screwed into the head. Rockers need to be shimmed.

Um... What?

Horsepower has nothing to do with it.
Pedestal rockers bolt down, they are not pressed.

You can buy 3/8" conversion studs for your pedestal mount heads, then you could buy my Comp Cams pro magnum rockers for super cheap. (its actually a very good option)
