It is fairly easy. It took about an hour to do mine, only because it was cold out when I did it.
First disconnect your battery. Then you need to take your center console out. Once that is out, you will how the stock shifter is mounted in. Remove all those bolts, and under the car disconnect the shifter from the trans. Be careful not to break the holder for the ball and socket joint on the shifter linkage! I accidentally did and had to come up with a creative solution. I used a bolt, 2 thick plastic washers, and a nut. I have yet to have a problem, and it has been on the car for over a year now. Get back in the car, and disconnect the lamp for the stock shifter. Also you will see the wire for the OD button. I cut mine, and spliced the new OD button on it. Worked like a charm...Once you have the stock shifter out, bring in the new B&M. Set it in the tunnel and start connecting the connections on top. Here is where the hard part comes in. on the front of the shifter, is where the saftey switch is for the brake and shifter. (Where you have to push in the brake in order to shift) The reason I say it is the hard part is because I had a b!tch of a time trying to get it right. Also you can splice the LED indicator for the shifter into the hot wire for the cigarrette lighter. Now get under the car and hook everything back up. Make sure the shifter is in Park. Double check everything, put the console back in, reconnect the battery and take her for a spin. If you have any problems, let me know and I will try to help the best I can.

I won't be driving a automatic very much longer....Swapping in my T45  :santa_evil:

ah cool. yea i'm still a bit fuzzy on the wiring stuff. Here are a couple pics of the shifter that i'm getting, i know that the base is beat up a little but i figure i could fix that pretty easy and with some new paint it would look good as new.

Tell me if you see anything wrong please

I have a truck megashifter in my...truck lol. Some of the lever's and crap are aplication specific, they sell you the same shifter for your 470rw that they sell me for my 700r4, so no worries there.

They have instructions on the website that are pretty detailed if you haven't looked there. Unfortunately I didn't bother to wire the reverse lock out, since I was going from a cloumn, I just gound it off and filled the hole with it stuck in park. Now I can start my truck in gear!

Not a bad install. And yes the red button is the overdrive button. Feels/looks 100x better than that stock shifter!

naw, i know he didn't have overdrive on his car... he had a lightning motor in there and the o/d band was removed in the trans... it had a performance build or something... i'm hoping he just had it wired somewhere else?

So he has no idea what eff he's talking about then. Kinda figured that since you can't remove the OD band and have the trans work, he probably has a C4, which makes sense.

There's absolutely no reason whatsoever for him to wire that switch for the reverse lights, or fo it to even serve that purpose.
