Need some help figuring this out. These damn omni-directional heads got mixed up on me. Is there any strong clues to figure out which one is for the left bank and which one is for the right bank? Anything is greatly appreciated.

Its slipping my mind but there's a certain way the plug on the rear of heads go and there's an oil passageway that will get plugged if they're reversed.. Sorry I'm not much of help right now I can't remember for the life of me how I did it.

I wish i could figure out plug position but i just recently got a set of ported heads from a guy off a forum and im pretty sure he took all the plug out of them. I put my old heads next to them and swapped the plugs over but im not sure if i got the tensioner plugs right.

I've got a set sitting at home that still have the tensioners on them. I'll check them out when I get home.

As I remember, there needs to be an oil gallery plugged on the rear of the driver's (left) head. The gallery opening faces the firewall. Installation of this plug has to be done before the head is torqued in place on the block. I have heard many stories of high pressure "oil baths" upon start-up, and then the subsequent tear down & clean up to plug it.

Here's the pics of the ones that I have that still have all the plugs and adjusters on them. I put them the same way as they'd be oriented on the engine for easy reference.

the heads can be installed either way. however, the oil galley plugs must be closed. the tensioners will have an open threaded plug hole for hydraulic actuation.
