My car turns over and it just spins as if its not getting spark or fuel. Sometimes it will start but it starts really rough. I changed the fuel pump, the fuel filter is good, new distributor, cap, button, plugs, wires, and timing chain. Also when we checked the spark it had spark. When I drive it hard, it sometimes dies down a little and then picks up and sometimes it backs through the MAF if I'm setting idle and giving it gas. Not sure what it is! Any suggestions?

Forgot to add that my temp. hand fluctuates from cold to about the r in normal. Not sure if that has anything to do with the other problems.

Do have any codes?
Has the distributor been replaced yet?
they're notorious for going out.
I also had spark when my dizzy went out.
Temp fluctuations could be from air in the system. Fill and burp.
or a bad sensor,

Timing is right. When its warm outside it seems to start better. Would the engine coolant temp. sensor cause these problems?

Yeah its stock. The MAF sensor suppose to be new. I got it put on this past summer. Maybe I should go back to the shop with it.

Sounds like my prob. Winter came and the car cranks a lot before it starts(cold weather). During the summer, cranks with no problems. This is the second winter with this prob. Haven't had much time to test and diagnose. First thing I'd do is check codes. Check engine light doesn't have to be on to have codes stored. Check for spark and fuel while cranking. Then, I'd do a full tune up and go from there. Could be the act or ect sensors but haven't had a chance to test this. I might try doing all this next week.

its the starter coil, change it, they have oil in them and when its really cold the oil is thick and it tends to not crank until its warm, trust me i JUST went through this with my 90 lx, put a new coil on and she fired right up!

Still having the problem. Took it to the shop and they said it was the cap and rotor, which was brand new last April. Got new ones again and it still didn't fix it. Still having hard time starting and it backfires through the MAF and busts up when I gas it especially from 2nd to 3rd. It's back at the shop. Thanks for help! Still not sure what's going on.
