my cars hood isnt as shiny as the rest of it. its kind of hazy. the rest of the car needs a good claybar and wax but the last time it didnt make the hood any better...could it have something to do with me taking the underhood insulator off? im thinking of having the car color sanded if a good claybar and wax doesnt work
any ideas?

The clay bar isn't going to help and removing the hood insulator didn't cause the prob either.
I'm sure Handz will chime in soon and set you on the right path.
Is the clearcoat in good shape (no hairline cracks)? Just milky right?

It's less than a year old? Take that thing back instead of messing with it yourself! It possibly sounds like a thin clear job and its fading off already.

Sounds like it's oxidation and not fading. Pick up some Megs ColorX at the parts store, it will clean the paint and remove the oxidation (if that's what it is).

If you have a good DA or Rotary buffer you could almost certainly knock it out with a good compound and/or polish. I'd definitely consider taking it back to whoever painted it and see what they say though.

I doubt the hood insulation has anything to do with it. We both live in So Cal and i have had my insulation off for years.

I would say it just needs to be polished differently to achieve better results.
