My Current exhaust set up is bbk o/r x pipe flowmaster 40 series and Stock Headers. I've been looking at some BBK Shorty Headers for my car. Would this be a good setup to run. Would I expect any horsepower gains from the. And would it change the sound of my car.

Shortys are a waste of money. Go with longtubes.. then ull need a tune... then ull be good to go.

BTW. flowmasters sound best with an H pipe.. and you might wanna end up changing ur catback once you go with the LTs.. the drone will just be crazy

The Shorts are not great but better then the stock manifold. The BBK's are the best of the shorts by far, they at least attempt to be a equal length header compared to the early 4.6 shorts that were just stock looking with bigger tubes.

Shorts are a compromise in size, price, and power etc. The LT's are always the best choice but they are illegal and have ground clearance issues if you live somewhere with crap roads.
I'd run LT's if i lived down south were they have no emissions and flat roads.

I have bbk shorties that are coming off for long tubes very soon. Long tubes can get pretty expensive depending on the brand you buy, and then like Bob said ad in the cost of a new mid pipe.

I live in ky and I don't think they would check my exhaust setup if I getpulled over what mid pipe would I need

If you're getting shorty headers, than the stock length mid-pipes are going to bolt right up.
Now if you were getting LT, then a 'shorty' mid-pipe is needed to compensate for the LT's.

In my previous post i never said u were running cats.. obviously with a o/r x.. ur flowmasters are a catback exhaust..

if you were to go with shorties, u would eventually go with LTs if you wanted to make any power, so it would be a waste of money.

If you go with LTs you will need a shorty mid pipe. its shorter on the header side due to the LTs coming further under the car.. cuz there um.. longer hahah
TY SLP for making my setup modular..

go for the BBK shorty headers. i have the ford racing shorties on my car. and i'm running the BBK catless x-pipe and flowmaster cat-back as well. the shorties are fine. and imo the long tubes are not worth the money for their performance gain. unless you plan on supercharging.

Do you have any facts to back up your claims on the hap not being worth the money

i dont have any numbers. most long tube setups are about twice as much as short header setups. and from what i have heard, the long tubes dont give twice the horsepower. and i've also heard of people bottoming out their car on their long tube headers as well. i suppose it depends on if the OP is planning on doing this to a DD. If its going to be supercharged at any time, long tubes are better for a few reasons. but i dont see why you would pay $400 plus for a little more horsepower than $200 provides.

Shorties you do not gain much (alot of threads out there and alot of opinions on that topic) over stock manifolds if any. Long tubes will give you the most gain, with that said tough it depends on what your supporting mods are. If your just a basic bolt on car cold air intake and udp's then long tubes wont have the effect as if your were a ported na or Power Adder car. As far as bottoming out thats 100% dependant on the exhaust company, also the suspension on the car some guys here slam their cars and have real low stanc's others have more of a higher up or stock stance. Yes long tubes are expensive. If this as a 4v car (ie cobra mach one ect) and he put long tubes on his car you will gain considerably over stock manifolds (4v's love the LT's) but this being a gt, he needs to see what he wants. If its a DD stock manifolds or used shorties will work just fine. If you want Hp out of it, get long tubes.

i dont know if bassani makes them for 2vs.. but if he was worries about clearence, and wanted almost the same gain as LTs but more than shorties... bassani mid lenths are a nice set to go with...

Dont do either. Save your money for when you're actually making real power. All the LT's are going to do is give you a couple peak and shift your power band. Stock manifolds are fine till the 450's.
