hey
i was thinking of putting headers on my 94gt i currently have flowmaster 40series cat back on their right now with the stock mid pipe
eventually im going to put a catted x pipe on but right now i was wondering if i will notice a difference with the headers? they would
be the bbk shortys.

to be honest, shorty headers are a waste of time and money, if you get anything, get longtubes and a x-pipe, but if you want a real noticeable difference that will be more than doing exhaust will be getting gears, they'll be cheaper to be installed and have more of a noticeable difference

It depends our cars came with different ratios, and personally i would finish off the exhaust cause our mid pipe sucks and you will feel the difference with that restrictive POS off and if you look at our stock headers anything is better than those they are freakin tiny.

Ummm, Cheaper to install? Not likely. Going to cost me about $350 for a total rebuild of my rear end and gear install. Not to mention about $250 in parts. My headers cost me $150 and $0 to install as I could do them myself.

Everyone has an opinion on what to do when. In the end we all end up changing out all the exact same things. Gears WILL give you the most kick in the pants at one shot. The only other thing that gives you this much "FEEL" is a supercharger. But gears are the best bang for the buck. Headers are cheaper to purchase and install than gears.

Im not going to get into the long vs short debate. Ill just say I have shorty equal length and love them. And yes I could tell a difference from stock.

I have FRPP Shorties, they were free so i use them :dunno:

I'd love LTs but the hassle to install and work around them all the time just doesn't seem worth it to me...

You will be happy with a mid pipe once you drive your car without that stocker on there you will be amazed at the difference, those 4 cats suck big time.

theirs 4?!?!

The stock one has 4. And yes headers help. I do not see how they could not considering how crazy small they are.

My car failed horribly when i tried smoging with my x pipe with hi flow cats. They normally dont last really long as far as i know my buddy had the same problem with his h pipe with the hi flows. I just gutted out my cats so they are hollow so i am basically running an off road pipe now. I just swap the h pipe on when i have to smog and it works great.

on the rear gear its a preference most will tell you 3.73s and no larger...i like the higher gears i run a 4.30 in my 94 it takes off like a rocket...no problem at all down low...as for stock sizes they range anywhere from like a 2.73 to a 3.27 ..mine had the largest

I think I read somewhere that 94 GTs have 3.08 with the 5spd, i forget what the autobox gears were. Im getting some cheap 3.73s from my cousin(he has an 83 GT. runs a mid 10 :crying:) and he has like 4.55s in it, rhey give ALOT more punch than his 3.73s had put its almost too much for an everyday driver. my other cousin has a 1996 GT with 4.11s, they are fast but gas mileage is worse than my 5.0L. otherwords, if you want a good performance increase as well as decent fuel mileage, an everyday driver like mine, get 3.73s, I can't wait for mine! :dancing6:
