help, 1995 gt overheating again.

Well I thought after last summers hot weather and fixing my problems my overheating issues were gone, but I guess not.

Today our 1st 80 degree day and after driving my car for about 30min its overheating,Last summer I checked the fan and had my tuner have it come on early and replaced my thermostat and tstat housing, the car ran allot better, but now this summer it got so hot i opened the hood i almost burnt my hand, i opened the overflow tank and it was bubbled to the top, I let the car sit for 30min and when i went to start her it had trouble starting, and didn't want to stay started, so i let it sit again went to start after sitting it was running fine but still hot, not sure what the problem is still, it runs fine in the winter.I have a new radiator and head gaskets to go in, what else could cause this?


I'm thinking its my radiator or underdrive pulleys. the gauges are all over the place, the oil gauge goes all the way to h and the temp gauge is all over the place and always on HOT no matter how hot the car is.



I keep doing diff things, burp the system,new collant, 50/50 mix, new tstat new houseing, new hoses , still issues new waterpump.

The 3 things im left with is underdrive pulleys, gasket and radiator.

I run u/d pullies and I am in Floida, I have yet to have any overheating issues. You may have had a thermostat fail, even though it is new(er).

I have had the same problem.

My engine was boiling because of to much air in the top of the engine.

Try to take off the hoses Engine/Heatercore and fill water in those which is in the top of your engine.

first are you sure your fan is coming on low and high speeds. also a radaitor shop told me that our radiators tend to clog from the bottom up . not much you can do about that except take it out and have a shop clean it or buy a new one. i'm going to have to do the same thing soon good luck

Yes they do...


From your post after all that stuff is left i would try 2 things.. I dunno what you mean by your waterpump statement, still issues but check your water pump, it might be bad... Ive never had to replace one so i dunno what your getting yourself into on that one, or your belts might not be tight enough by those UD pullies, so put in the stockers to see if that doesnt help out..

Ditch the stock gauges and see what an auto meter tells ya. My old oil pressure gauge used to run around the "N" and my auto meter pressure gauge shows 60lbs at idle and 75 at about 2k. So that would be a good start. I did have a prob with my old motor overheating like that but what I did was flush the whole system and fill it with new coolant and filtered water, a new 180 degree thermostat and it seemed to run a lot cooler. I'm in florida as well. Hope you get it fixed up.
