Hello to all I have a 95 mustang gts I bought a fresh short block then got gt40p heads and headers from coupe performance it also has an e cam and 1.7 rollers I put everything together slow so not to mess anything up. I deleted the egr and smog lines and pluged the related vacuum lines. I am having problems with the car idling it will not idle with the timing set where it is supposed to be at 10-14 It will only idle with 20 or more deg adv and idles up and down then dies I have pulled vacume lines from the distribution block and it will idle up I have changed the intake gaskets and rechecked to see if #1 was tdc and it is I have sprayed ether (starting fluid) and used propane still no change when the iac is disconected it idles worse so im at a lose as to what the problem is any help will be greatly app thanks craig

Probably retarded the timing by being a tooth behind, causing the timing to show off, when it probably has 8-10 when your sitting there thinking it has 24

Off a tooth doesn't really do much. You can turn the dizzy to compensate for that. 20 degrees is 20 degrees whether you're off a tooth or not. The egr probably wasn't deleted properly.

If the dizzy is off, it won't suddenly show 40 degrees on the crank, it'll show normal numbers. So what is showing 14, is really way off. If your looking at 14 degrees, and the car acts as though its running with 25 degrees, then No, thats not 14 degrees.

Ok I moved the dizzy ccw one tooth and start it up and it does the same it wont idle without alot of timing in it. It was driving fine just wouldnt idle and had alot of timing in it I didnt move the dizzy clock wise because #1 on the cap puts the dizzy almost against the block. The funny thing is it didnt do any pinging as I was driving im stoked it doesnt throw a cel either

Start by putting #1 piston on TDC and verifying the HB lines up on 0.
The HB may have slipped and is now giving you the wrong reading.

It's not your dizzy. How did you delete your egr? Like I said if you're off a tooth you can turn your dizzy to compensate. if you don't believe me, pull your dizzy out and install it a tooth off and re time it. If you didn't turn your egr off through your computer you'll have problems. Your balancer may have spun also.

good lucky with the simulator i hope it fixes your problem. i had trouble with the one i ordered, didnt work. may have just been a bad unit tho.

also the two things that stick out to me are
did you pull the spout with the car off then set the timing.
and maybe the hb has slipped they like to do that on these cars.

yeah the hb has slipped a little funny thing happened today I pulled the spout and the
car wouldnt fire I put it back in and still wouldnt fire. I let it set 20 mins and she fired right up
so i ran it at idle for a bit and pulled the spout again and it wouldnt idle with the spout out
I put it back in and it idles good for a while then the cel comes on and it gets crazy again
I figure its just the egr but its kinda got me stoked. I do have a small exhaust leak around the ball
and socket at the header but ive never had a problem like this from an exhaust leak

i have fitment issue's with my H-pipe and bbk headers on the passenger side i know how that goes.
funny thing about hb's my stock one worked fine for a year and a half, i raced my friend one day and told him i want to check my car before we race again and went home.(wasnt up to par but wasnt running bad just kinda felt off) the next morning i started the car and the hb fell apart in my driveway. the counter weight was all over the place.

ran great after replacing it.
