help with dinging

so i got a problem with some dinging noise. the same noise it makes when the door is open. the car dings constantly when the headlights are on, and sometimes when the outer black part of the ignition isnt exact with the key. i know it should be, but its a 94 and rough condition i guess. any help??

sound like a bad ignition switch. easy to check for continuity

Mine does the same thing. The collar on the ignition switch is broken off from the ignition cylinder itself. Every time I get out, I have to reach back in and slightly turn the collar so the door dinger stops.

I think I have this problem too, the part the key goes into can turn without the key and i can make it ding even if the key isn't in in the ignition. I don't want to get new keys though because then my door locks won't be correct...

A locksmith can re-key the new ignition lock cylinder to your old key..
