cute little thing..lol

It might be cute but it's deadly. Walked a Mach1 (or a Mach1 clone) and put 3-4 cars on him from a dig to 90mph, not sure what was done to it but it it at least had exhaust. Can't wait to get the new turbo and everything installed. Not sure what times I'll be running but from what i gathered from cars with similar parts I'll hopefully be doing low 12's.

The "Tri-bars" are actually my favorite stock wheels, My old stang came with them too. I understand Euro's just arn't for some people, I thought I would always own American. I DD'd a v6 Passat for a while after my stang went down, wasn't the best car ever but It wasn't that bad, and I had some fun with it embarrassing some civics and whatnot. Time came around for a new car and I happen to see the GTI sitting at VW dealership one day and test drove it after I looked at some other cars. Instantly fell in love with it and this was after driving an Audi a4, 350z,06 Mustang GT, Volvo S60R, and a few other things. I saw a JCW Mini that day but when I went inside to ask to look at it (20mins before closing time) the sales guy was like, "sorry we're closing right now come back tomorrow." Told him yea I don't think so and went back to VW the next day, Car was gone. They said they sent it to their dealership in Buffalo to try to sell. Told them I really wanted it and it was back the next day and in my name.

Yea yea, cool story bro.... Anyways I love the car. I drive back and forward between NC and NY whenever I get time off. From Syracuse NY to Fayetteville NC cost me $70 one way (using highest octane i can find) pushing 30+mph (if i stay out of it). The ride is comfortable, the back seats actually has plenty of room for 2 people(can even squeeze 3) and I can fit all of my military gear I bring out to the field in the hatch. All in all, great car, I would recommend picking one up for a reliable DD. Now that I've bought everything i Need for it next on my list of things to buy is a new project... possibly another mustang.

If you like it, its all that matters. As for efficiency, I have no idea how far that is, so what kind of MPG's is it putting down? As far as non-american cars go, I will give a Jetta TDI credit. But I am not too big on hatchbacks, american or not.

It's almost 800miles one way, getting around 30-32mpg.

So I received an email saying the K04 turbo kit I ordered (and has been on backordered for almost 2 months) was cancelled. Don't know why, Don't really care anymore. Jut gives me a reason to do the big turbo build I originally wanted to do. Most likely going with a Garrett 3071R

Here's some comparison pictures to the stock k03 to see how significantly bigger the turbo I'm probably going with will be

ko3 compared to a watch.... (notice that the watch face could fit inside)

I'll give VW's their due. Had an ex with an '01 Jetta 2.0. It was slow as balls but the steering and handling was some of the best I've experienced. Perfect on-center feel and it felt solid yet nimble.

Looks like your car is in for a helluva blowjob, keep us posted.

+1 it's a nice looking car but I think the front is too low. as for being good in snow I don't doubt it but there's no way it goes through 2-3 ft even with snow tires.

Ok maybe not 3 ft of snow but i've been through over a ft of snow with it and didn't have problems. Only problem is there's skid plates the cover the entire bottom of the car and it caused me to bottom out once. After that I learned not to let off of it while going through deep ass snow.

Sux to hear about them canceling your order. Ever thought about color matching the lower plastics or getting textured rubstrips to match the lowers? The gt3071r is going to be beastly for sure. It's been about a year since I sold my stang and have been trying to find a way to afford an MKV .:R. I might be able to make it happen sometime this summer. You have a build on Vortex? If so post up the link and your username.

Well I now have a GT3071R on the way to the house. Can't wait to get everything together and get it running.

I plan on getting new side skirts and stuff in the future, will probably go with the votex ones. For now though I plan on leaving it stock and make it look as sleeper as possible (though not many people think they're rolling up on a 500hp golf to begin with)

I don't think I have one on votex yet but I do have one on the MKV forum. My screen name is "BII302" on those forums as well
