So I got two new tires over the winter and I didn't feel like messing with it so I took it to the local tire shop and had them put them on my wheels and rotate them also. Skip to today, I get two new sway bar end links and I figured I would change them tonight since its a little cooler outside. I jack my car up, put it on jackstands, get all my tools set out and blah blah blah. Go to take the lugs off, won't f*cking budge with the breaker bar, in fact I screwed up one of the lugs a little bit. Get out my impact, nothing. Go to the other side and use the impact on that wheel, I manage to get one lug off. What the f*ck did they use to put them on there with? This is f*cking ridiculous. :BangHead: :BangHead:

Their tools > yours.

I would but the way the lugs are shaped it just spins off. Thats what messed up the one lug.

Well, disregard this thread. lol I got them off. Took forever but I got them. It took longer to get the lugs off than it did actually changing the end links.

that's still bullshit man, my Bro recently had the same thing happen to him. It was ridiculous how hard we had to work to get all the lugs off.

Yes, ask them to use a torque wrench, and not an impact, they will do that for you if they are a good shop.

Too loose is a lot easier to fix though lol.

I recently took all my wheels off on my SRT4 and dear lord, it took me nearly 40 mins to break all the lugs loose.

thats why i usually bring the wheels to the place rather than the whole car. then i know for darn sure how tight they are.

What happens when you have a flat and need to change the tire on the side of the road?

I used to work w/ a guy that did that, pissed me off. He would hammer on them w/ his snap-on impact at full strength. I'm amazed he didnt snap a lug.

My Mac on the lowest setting puts em on at 110lbs every time  torque wrench checked every few months.

I need to take a picture of my trunk. I fastened down a big ass tool kit to the driver side edge + I have the roush tool kit. I'm pretty much prepared for any disaster lmao

Sounds like next time you won't be so lazy haven't you ever heard if you want something done right do it yourself. Eighther way you would be complaining if they would have left them too loose the wheel could have come off, you would have lost control of the car, and eighther totaled it out or done some serious damage and then they would have a lawsuit against them. You have to think about how many cars a tire store or shop works on daily a torque wrench is a great idea but if they used a torque wrench on every vehicle that came in it would take all day to do 15 vehicles. Sounds to me like the impact was turned up a little too much but I would rather it be that way then the other.

A gorilla is the answer. They used a Gorilla.

Sounds like you need a cheater bar and some good pen oil to break those loose. (man wanna torque your lugs yourself in th future)
I don't let shops touch my car. I take the wheels in myself, let them mount the tires, and I put them on the car.
it's rediculously, ineptly & increasingly difficult to get good service.
