Since I have started taking my car back to school again since the snow melted, I have lots of comments about my new hood and it's pins. This one guy(has a 1000cc crotch rocket) says they are not nescesary and are pure rice considering my car is mostly stock. I told him the hood is full fiberglass and the latch doesn't work on the hood and he said BS. Everyone in my automotive class knows they are their for a purpose, to keep my hood on :p. My question is, does anyone else get laughed at or accused of being a ricer because they have pins?

This whole "it's rice" thing is so damn annoying. How is something that has a function rice? Huge wing on civic, no function, rice... hood pins on fiberglass mustang hood so it doesn't fly up and break windsheild, not rice. He rides a jap bike... no room to talk. Tell him to f*ck off.
And to answer your question, never got any crap for my frpp hood pins.

Way you can't really talk shit about the bike cause the 600rr are fast let alone a 1000rr........you can always put down his gf , kick his dog, or give a swift drunken punch to the throat

just tell him to do alittle reading on mustangs/camaro's and he will quickly learn it's a safety procaution and a common occurance with fiberglass hoods to fly up.

Here's a great example. Just happened yesterday to a guy local here in Philadelphia:

Well. . . I was on my way but i ran into a 350Z and a new evo on rt30. They kept running each other and i was chasing behind. Z got off and me and the evo went at it. All the way running out fifth gear, well my hood decided to fly up somewhere around "trip reset mph" proceeding to smash my windshield, the hood and some above the windshield. Lesson here, get hood pins

Tell that homo bike dude to go :violent4:

Of course his bike is fast, power to weight ratio is crazy... But I wonder how he would like when you tap him out of the hole...lol... the car would still be going.

most ricer's aren't even fast enough to need hood pins. how often do you see them at the track? plus, i have more confidence in pins than the stock latch. i've had a few hoods pop open and smash windshields. :tard:

sounds like there's another issue there.

No hood pins here, I'm lead to believe if they were needed they would have been installed from the factory on the R models.

the factory only applies the minimum for the general public. not for guys that want to modify and race. it would be nice if they offered hood pins, stiff suspension, turbos, etc... as options. but that would cost them too much. that's why they have aftermarket companies to do it for them.

so you're saying the Cobra R wasn't designed to be raced?
