Well I got my new hood today! Looks real good. But won't look good white on my car soo.... Where do I go from here? Have the paint gun, got a compressor... Now what do I do? Step by step directions would be most helpful and exactly what paint/primer/clear I need to use will help a lot too. Looking for a metallic black...... Any help will be appreciated guys when I get the money for the supply's it'll be finished up. So I'm thinking probably another week or two

how much automotive paint exp do you have? How big is your compressor and what gun did you get? I just got a compressor today mainly to get into painting my own stuff and been looking around but not sure...

That sounds great..When I did my bumper a month ago. Taylor just helped me over email/ Text. Etc.. Easy process.. Lol maybe let him give you a smooth run down... Cause he saved me some good money/ time on things I thought I needed vs things I really didn't.. When he get back he going to send me his old hood anyway.. I was going to do the same thing you are doing.. But now I think I'm going to wrap it in Carbon Fiber and many other parts on the stang... Lol.. Go to sleep Mr. Insomnia :)...

as far as paint goes, ive had good success with dupont chromabase series. your going to need a quart of prime, quart of paint, and quart of clear. painting metallic is tough for a starter color but best advice i can give is whatever you do, DO NOT STOP MOVING the gun while your spraying the paint. long, slow fluid motions and each pass across the hood you shouldnt stop laying paint until your way past the edge of the hood. also, you need to instal a good air/water seperator. its 100% required. any moisture in the paint will cause not good things to happen. compressor size is also something to look at. painting requires a high volume, but doesnt need much pressure. a large tank is a must. the paint gun trigger has 3 settings you might call them. off, air only, air/paint. when your moving your gun between one line you just painted and your next line, keep the air going but not the paint. start spraying paint again when you are about to begin your next line of paint.

Thanks guys a good run down is I have zero experience, some blue gun I paid $40 for from Summit, a 60 gallon compressor, and don't have a air water separator.. Don't even know what one is lol. Did however know about the sweeping motion thing, I know if you stop while still on the hood your done for in terms of a good paint job. I'll give you guys some more details when I get off work if you need them

And GMSMOKR guess what? I'm in bed by 1130 now lol I work 7-330! Freakin unreal man haha
