as far as paint goes, ive had good success with dupont chromabase series. your going to need a quart of prime, quart of paint, and quart of clear. painting metallic is tough for a starter color but best advice i can give is whatever you do, DO NOT STOP MOVING the gun while your spraying the paint. long, slow fluid motions and each pass across the hood you shouldnt stop laying paint until your way past the edge of the hood. also, you need to instal a good air/water seperator. its 100% required. any moisture in the paint will cause not good things to happen. compressor size is also something to look at. painting requires a high volume, but doesnt need much pressure. a large tank is a must. the paint gun trigger has 3 settings you might call them. off, air only, air/paint. when your moving your gun between one line you just painted and your next line, keep the air going but not the paint. start spraying paint again when you are about to begin your next line of paint.
