Can any of you hook on nittos? I'm thinking about leaving my slicks at home this Friday and just running on my 275/60/15 nittos, and set a goal running 12.50 on them. I've only made about three passes on the nittos and they were all pretty sad. Couldn't launch at all and had to slip the clutch a lot to keep them from spinning. Best 60' I got with them was a 1.86 I think. Any tips on using these tires is appreciated. Thanks

Just curious, I have no advice, but if you have slicks, why are you wanting to use the nittos?

Last time I had 18psi in them and was doing fairly short burnouts because I was told the nitto's didn't like long burnouts. I'll try what you suggested though.

Yeah drop a little more psi and smoke the shat out of them.

Also just an FYI Nitto 555Rs are a "controlled spin" style drag radial. They are meant to hook fairly well and allow you to stay in control with a little bit of tire spin, unlike MT's or other drag radials that are a "dead hook" style. A Nitto will never hook as good as an MT, they can get close.

I have some MT et street radials sitting in my garage that I need to have switched over onto these rims. They hooked well for me when I used them on my GT.

I forgot you had thoes et street's if i were you id pay the moeny to have them swapped or just put them on the mach, you and i both know the m/t is 10x's the tire the nitto is. I have my radials (mt) but never used them at the track, kind wish i did but i dont see a point when my slicks work perfect and do what i need.

Hell yes. From what I have seen so far the MT's grip a lot better at the track. Both suck on the street.

eh they dont hold bad, its not a normal tire so you cant really rip it hard in the corners(no sway bars will prevent that too with skinnies and soft springs lol) but yea i never had an issue with them, rain was interesting hahaha

Corners? What are those? LoL it still turns pretty good as long as you aren't going real fast. I haven't had any problems in the rain with the MT's. I haven't had the Mach out in the rain to try the nittos.

+1 you should really heat them up good. Last time i used mine i was doin 2nd gear burns for a good amount of time. I don't have the lowest gear or a lot of power but i was dead hooking with mine on a 4500rpm launch.

I know can hook like a MF'er, but the M/T's will hook just a little better. It's what they were meant to do. I've seen the same car make passes on both 555R's and E/T's (same size as well as on the same rim and in the same day) and the only real difference was the M/T's had just a hair better 60'.
