Just wondering how bad you guys think my car will slow down if I go from 16s with 245s to 18s with 275s and 315s?

18x9, 18x10.5 inch wheel.

Will it be a big difference?

dependin on your launch it might make it quicker, the 315 is way easier and better to launch than a 245. hell a 275 and a 245 are night and say differences. im goin with a 17 in wheel cause its best of both. not as heavy as 18's but still looks pimp

im auto though...so the whole launching thing is kind of different.

eh...17s come stock...18s are sexy...the biggest difference is some 315s out back...thats the shit

another problem is the tires are like 300 dollars a pop haha...I might need to use the 16s for daily driver tires haha

from the 16x8 bullit replicas I have now to 03 cobras satin

I made the exact same change except I had waffles originally. You definately feel it. I've never run my car but it feels maybe 2 or 3 tenths slower. You could probably make that time up with the added traction. I'm actually thinking about finding some BBS Plasmas or something because of the weight reduction. These wheels are HEAVY!!!!

those 18s are so sexy...but I dont think I can stand to add 30 pounds of rotating mass...maybe with the blower it wont matter haha

I went from 16" Pony's to 18" Bullits, and only noticed the handling got alot better

it should with a lower profile tire...but im assuming I would lose .2-.3 tenths

I had a 1.89 60' with 18's

wow!

what was the setup of the car? 1/4 mile time?

again...im auto so theres a big differance...a 5 speed can launch off the line.

With my auto im not able to launch so the 60 foot will probably suffer

It was a 6 speed, and I ran an 11.88. But I really didn't notice a difference, other than the handling improved, nothing detrimental, except the tracking in the rut's.

I mean in a before and after test there may have been a difference, but I didn't feel it.

Probably won't sell them but would trade for some 17 or 18 inch BBS or other lightweight wheels

an auto can launch just as hard as a stick, you just have to do it right

how do you figure?

explain to me how i can launch a STOCK auto just as hard as a stick?

theres no way to get the rpms up at launch in a stock auto...autos dont have as much gear either.

My whole point is that 18 inch wheels would affect me being an auto with not so much power compared to a 5 speed or what JR was running, 6 speed running 11s

I didn't notice a great deal of change when i went to the 6 speed either, I put in an aluminum flywheel and driveshaft at the same time, had to blip the thottle to get it to move lol. Didn't seem to rev any quicker though.

Of course most of the gear ratios were pretty drastically steeper in the 6 speed.

I don't think you'll put on the 18's and be like, OMG my car is so slow now or anything.
