Really big closed-end wrench (can't remember the size right now) and about 1/32 of a turn at a time. It was a pain in the ass.

I think I unbolted the engine ground and one or two other things to give myself a little room.

Have fun!

Yeah, screw using the wrong tool for the job, the special socket makes life a hell of a lot easier. Use it and return it. I kept mine just because its always good to have around.

Now that I think of it, I did use a socket. It's a big one, like 1 1/16" or something I think.

BOught the socket . Worked like a charm . My problem Now is I can't get the new fittings to seal at the block. It's got a small drip. I used the pipe sealer and it still leaks. It's such a bitch to get in that area and i have to go do it all over again.

A 12pt 26 mm socket is a nice fit also; I found it to fit better than the special socket.

Thanks for the size Ryno. I remember using a 12 pt socket, but couldn't remember the size for the life of me.

pull the power steering/compressor bracket off of the driver side head. 3 bolts. Should make it easier. Did you use the paste or the tape thread sealer?.
