No, usually the taller the gear, the more RPM's it spins; which drinks more fuel.
true, but in the city you don't reach highway speeds, which tend to be where your gear eats away your MPG. A car with a gear will get better MPG around town then a car with a stock gear, because there is a whole lot less effort involved getting up to a reasonable speed. Seen it time and time again.
