Define heavy duty? The stock u-joint is a standard 1310, the best one avalable commonly is the Spicer solid u joint at 20 bucks, but CTM cryo treated bronze roller's run 200 bucks, you can also substitute any amount of other ujoint's....

Nothing serious, just a step above stock would work.

Im pretty sure my u joints are bad cause im getting this loud almost banging like sound when I go into reverse....thats supposed to be a major sign of u joint failure.

I went w/ the spicers and it was $60 to have them installed. To my knowledge they are a sealed type that you can't grease.

Why would you even do that?

If you have the driveshaft off installing the u joint should be like two steps

Remove the little clips with needlenose pliers and bang the joint out using a socket and a hammer.

Yeah, probably want 50 bucks, all it takes is a vice though.

Why are you even worried about your u joints handz?

Because they old and worn and when i got my clutch installed my Tranny dude said they needed to be replaced soon. Its cheap so might as well do it now.

What are the symptoms of this, just curious...On cold days when I put the car in reverse, then right into drive it makes a creak noise, but when its warm it doesn't do it at all.

From my understanding the u joint will be loose....so going from drive to reverse you should notice almost like a metal on metal banging and going from a dead stop you can hear/feel it a bit.

Also, when coasting at highway speeds and letting of the gas you might feel vibrations or shuttering.

Just in case anyone is wondering the u joints were a breeze.

I lifted the front of my car a little less so the trans fluid didnt even leak out.

Popped the old one out with a hammer, new one in.

Threw the shaft back on and I have no banging noise now.

Woohoo
