How often does anyone really change tranny fluid on an AOD? I don't do it all that often, but I also don't drive her very hard. Have not yet had a problem but with the transmission, I have more of a "if it ain't broke" philosophy. I'm afraid that once I do go monkeying around down there, I will cause more problems than if I just leave it alone.

Just being honest. Can anyone tell me what they honestly do vs. what the manufacturer recommends?

Whenever I have to pull the tranny, which is REALLY rare.

I go about 40K. I learned an expensive lesson with my son's Taurus. Add a trans cooler if at all possible!

Every 40K is what I did...

I bought my 95 at 46,000 miles changed it. Had my trans rebuilt to be a lot stronger at 72,000 and obviously it was changed again.

I agree, no matter what - always put an aftermarket trans cooler on it.
