the 94-95's had severe Headgasket problems and had a recall. 96-04's were much much better

other than that, extremely reliable engines.

mine has around 150,000 miles and runs like new

and if you every have any problems, they are insanely easy to work on. just think of it as a really small 5.0 without a distributor

My 95 runs pretty well for a DD. It had trouble shifting into OD, but I changed the fluid and it shifts great.

Mine runs like new as well @ 132k.

204k + miles on mine now, and it still runs great. Needs O2 sensors (but any car will need those after so long), but doesn't smoke or leak anything!

Aside from normal wear parts, I haven't had to replace anything major on it. Brake pads, rotors, etc... and one belt tensioner.

In short, aside from some nagging head gasket issues in 94/95, they're very reliable. All Mustangs are, it's just the age of the car and how well they're maintained that ultimately determines the life of the car. Reason I say age is older parts, even with proper maintenace, like sensors, will fail over time.
