I pretty much have the turbo kit I want picked out. I haven't ordered it yet because I am unsure about getting it tuned.I found a shop about an hour away. The only other shop is about 3+hrs away from me so that kinda sucks. I found him through the SCT site.I e mailed the guy and this is what he sent in return
Jason,
Thanks for the email. I have tuned alot of 5.0 fox bodies, cobras gt's. Most have all been either blown or turbo cars. Probably the hardest so far was a 5.0 vortec with e85 fuel.
I would be happy to tune your car. My charges are as follows.... Dyno tuning 120/hr. SCT flip chip, cable and switch- $260. We need to make sure you have a big enough mass air flow meter. How much boost are making?
I don't charge for every minute I'm on the dyno or working on the car. Most of my tunes will take about 5-6 hrs and end up 300-600 in labor plus parts. It really depends on the car and how all the components match.
I use a steady state dyno for tuning. It makes for really good drivability and good power numbers.
If you need references I would be happy to provide them.
Please call me anytime if you have any questions. Thanks again,
What do you guys think?Doesn't sound like he has done any Sn's. Reason I am asking is I know that the Sn's are, do I wanna say harder to tune? From what I read anyway.
I like to consider myself fairly mechanical and learn quickly. But I don't think I can tackle the task of self tuning so I don't think I will consider that.
Would you give him a shot on tuning?
