Hi guys, can anyone tell me how I can remove this part? I don't know how to call it. Is it a plastic door guard?
Did they mount it as a factory part and is there paint underneath it?

I removed those from my V6 before I sold it. I heated them up with a heat gun and then carefully pulled them up. Use some goo-gone or equivalent to get the rest of the sticky stuff off afterwards.

that's there to prevent door-dings.

as far as I know its double-sided taped on. Use a blow-dryer or heat-gun and carefully peel it off. You'll have to wash the glue and tape off afterwards.

I've only taken them off other cars, never a mustang -- so hopefully someone else with more experience can chime in. :)

I think its called a door bumper gaurd. I know nothing about it but im assuming its stuck on. There should be paint underneith? but it will likely make a nasty mess taking it off?

Edit: looks like i got beat to it.

Thanks guys. If the weather will be better I will try it with a heat gun. I'm just wondering because a guy who sell mustang parts in Germany told me that there is no paint underneath it?! But he only removed it from the new edge mustang.

Yep I think it is a nasty mess, but it's wort it. Without them the car looks more smooth and nothing brakes the lines of the car.

Yeah, there's paint under there. You just heat it up nice and warm. Start at one end and work your way to the other side, pulling it up slowly. Then clean the sticky residue off afterwards. That's it.

the other trick is to get some fishing line and work it under it like a saw. can help prevent the paint from underneath becoming strained. but always use some form of heat to loosen up the glue.

I have heard piano wire recomended.

With that being an export though I am curious to see if they painted the car after. I would look first.

BE CAREFUL!! My vert had those and the car was repainted at some point and if you were to take them off you would see the paint lines. Just do a small part and check first.
