I was wanting to get a hurst short throw shifter pretty soon, hopefully in a month or so when I can actually afford it.

what's the difference between the top two shifters? From the reading it looks like the only diff is the base? in the silver based one it has sst does that mean super short throw? lol, why?

I looked on hursts' website first and they had a billet plus and competition plus, they don't come out and say the difference j/w do you guys know? I don't think the comp plus is a short throw.?

that's all supportive of why I'm getting the hurst :)

but what's the difference between the 2? one says sst and is cheaper.

I think I'll go with this one instead because I can use my stock knob on top ( if i only knew how to get it off ) but idk if It will be covered by the stock leather boot?

Pro 5.0 Shifter with Hurst Ball and Redline Leather boot FTMFW

my pro-5.0 sucks. it was on the car when i bought it. the base is worn out and sloppy as hell, and the handle has sharp edges on it, so when i had my hurst t-handle, the top edges of the handle would almost cut my fingers.

sooo...i took the pro 5.0 handle off the base, gound down the sharp edges, and put it on my stock base, and it works BETTER than the pro-5.0.

All you do is unscrew your stock shit knob... as for the hurst, I've got the Hurst in my car and I hate it. it's to ratchety for me

My dad had Hursts on all his 5.0's. I liked them, precise and you never had a hard time finding a gear. Gates are very evenly spaced. Most would say the Hurst is outdated vs whatever else is out there but I like 'em.

I'm currently running a Pro 5.0 (came with my car), not a huge fan but can't afford a new one and the car needs other things first.

I'm shocked the MGW guys haven't blown this thread up yet. (Not a fan personally, no disrespect, I didn't like it)
