..it will be powdercoating mayhem at my house shortly. :santa_evil:

I already have a few powders and I will be coating my first few items probably this week. I got 50 pounds of fresh glass yesterday so my blast cabinet is ready to rock!

I am so freakin' excited!!

The notch's shortblock is built and I'm just waiting to get the heads back from the machine shop. In the meantime I'll powdercoat a bunch of stuff to go on it. I'll post pictures when I'm done - I think you guys will like the result. 8)

I got the deluxe kit that Columbia Coatings sells. So far I have matte black, silver metallic, and gray metallic powders. I'll be ordering more powders and more stuff on Wednesday. I've begun reading the book on it, and there's more to it than I thought. I'm going to buy two more water separators for my compressor (I have one already) and get some coating racks and more hooks. I'm also going to buy more containers for the powder while it's on the gun. I'm also picking up a parts washer and a couple gallons of kerosene to help out with the initial cleaning/degreasing, as well as this stuff that they sell to do a final cleaning of the part before you coat it. This is going to kick ass. :D

Well I think I need to get a little practice before I feel comfortable enough with the process to start charging people for my services. Give me some time.

Well I just got back from picking up a bunch of extra stuff before I start coating. I bought two extra long needle nose pliers, a respirator, goggles, flour sifter, infrared thermometer, and some other odds and ends. I'll probably start cleaning some parts up tomorrow to prepare for coating - I'll post some pictures along with a brief summary of what you'll need to have if you want to start doing this stuff yourself.

That would be great... Because I think I might be able to pick up an old oven that nobody is going to be using any longer..

The oven is really the cheapest part. You need to wire it (which can cost several hundred bucks for wiring/conduit/receptacles), then you need the powdercoating kit, the compressor (which needs to be BIG if you want to do any serious blasting), the blast cabinet, etc. etc.

However, if you love tools like I do - it's just a good investment. :D
