My '94 has a fairly extensive list of mods under the hood (ie. Edelbrock heads, Crane Roller Rockers, FRPP E-303 cam, BBK Throttle Body, BBK CAI, MSD Ignition, MSD MAS, JBA Shorty headers, 3.73s, etc., etc. etc.) and there is one thing that really leaves me scratching my head: The gentleman that owned the car (and built it, actually) before me put a 4500 fuel-cutoff module on the MSD digital ignition. But the car doesn't REALLY come alive until after 3k. I mean, don't get me wrong, it has plenty of torque, but she pulls like crazy after 3k (DUH!, lol). That leaves me with a 1500 rpm "powerband" which is used up VERY quickly. I'd like to install a 6k module to bring the car back up to stock redline, but am too chicken to do it because he must have put that module in for a reason, right? I absolutely cannot afford a blown engine, but I seriously don't think an extra 1500 rpm's would kill it, and it would give me a 3k rpm "powerband". If someone on here knows something I do not, and can help me pull my head out of my robust hind-quarters, I'd greatly appreciate it. I come on here 'cuz everyone here has some input (good or retarded) and any help I can get to further my knowledge is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

mine has no problem reving to 6000rpm without much trouble, that's as high as i go though. I believe the stock rev limiter is 6250. 4500rpm is way too low.

I did not realize they reved that high. I am used to old school 289/302 that red lined at 5500. I just thought that the 5.0 was the same way.

Stock they have terrible top end power. Peak power on my car was at 4300rpm, which is a joke to be honest. But once you really open up the top end, and the motor breath a bit, you can spin them fast. Something having to do with rod length and stroke, if I remember correctly.

:icon_rr: I'd keep that redline down not knowing if there was any abuse along the way ! Its a nice drive if you want to jump on to Tahoe or Reno... I'm just talking from experience

If the motor were stock, then there's not much point to spinning way beyond 5000 rpms.

With heads/cam/intake, you can easily do 6000 rpms.

My old dinosaur engine in the red car does 7400 rpms with no problems.

if that car as a 4500 rev limit on it then youve never really felt what that car can do, id put the 6k pill in, my car runs couple hundred past 6k all the time; thats where my power starts to drop off at, 6k aint gonna do a damn thing to a 5.0
