ok let me start,
im getting ready to start my brothers car. 85 mustang, 84 roller motor, with a c4 out of a 68 mustang. i got a b&m 157 teeth flexplate, 10.50 bolt pattern, tci 2000 stall. it all bolts up. i put the starter out of the original 84 motor and it wont engage, it spins but it doesnt reach the flexplate. i have another old school webber starter it also wont engage. if i got this straight both starters are for 164 teeth. i also found out theres 2 different bellhousings :wall: a large and a small. if i get a starter for a 157t application will it work??? IF i have this right t5 applications used a 157teeth application wouldnt this work???? i got pics tell me what u guys think and what can solve my problem!!!!

Since I am not familiar with what the 84 transmission would be like I would suggest getting a starter for the 68. The starter drive on your's looks pretty small in diameter from what I remember of the older equipment.

yeah i talked to the tci guy and they made 2 different bellhousings. a large which mostly came in trucks, pan filled, 26 spline trannies. and a small which mostly came in cars, case filled trannies. who would have taught my 24 spline, case filled, came of a mustang had a large bellhousing :wall: . mostly likely sometime in the trannies life someone switched the bellhousing to install a 11 7/16 converter. i ,assuming it was the common mustang 10.50 bolt pattern,157 tooth got everything messed up. well i got a bellhousing coming my way so all i have to do is take the tranny out and getting everything squared out .
