Any time you replace a throwout bearing, its safe to change the piolot bearing, inspect the bearing retainer(the tube that the TOB rides over) for cracks/breakage, maybe even replace the stud ball that the shift lever attaches to. Last time I had a meat grinder noise, I blew my TOB and on the way trying to get it home it also cracked the bearing retainer. In a T5 it unbolts from the bell housing, mine had to be pressed in. Anyway, on Corral, you said that you blew it up, does that mean the clutch too? If I had to drop the trans I would of replaced EVERYTHING again and had the flywheel resurfaced.

The clutch is fine...in fact it drives fine, minus the loud grinding noise, and the grinding noise going into the gears.

SOUNDS LIKE you did what i did :) Except i just did a 5th to 4th and applied light throttle. I would bet that the Pilot bearing is probably bad and caused bad wear on the Bearing retainer thus causing undue stress on the tranny itself. The tranny sounds like it might have given out on you. Or some of the parts inside. Just hope yours doesn't end up like this.

Well im gonna try and take it to school tomorrow, and see if my teacher can diagnose it. If its a bad tranny, I've got one lined up for 200. Hopefully thats not it.

Got one of those on top of my stereo... Anyways, sounds like you have something wrong inside the transmission, don't think you'd have grinding just because throwout/pilot bearing. Could definitely be the cause like Win said though.
