Your tranny asplode. Time for a rebuild.

FYI - don't floor it in reverse, or enage reverse with the car moving forward. Ever.

Reverse is a straight-cut gear, unlike all of the forward gears which are helical-cut. That's why they whine, and it's normal.

Reverse is definitely not a big beefy gear, and not intended to take any significant amount of load.

If you're paying someone to do it, start at about $500 and go from there. That doesn't include removal or reinstallation of the transmission from the car, and in actuality will very likely be significantly more.

You just risk breaking more stuff if you starting sending metal chunks through the remaining gears.

I too learned that a t-5 can't take a hard acceleration in reverse, the inside of the case was pure carnage.

LOL. I did this too. check your local junk yard for 94-95 used transmission. They can be had for pretty cheap. you are 17. drive it carefully and try not to do weird stuff on the car or show off too much. Otherwise our beloved stang will not last long and you will not have money to fix it.

Check the junk yard and get a haynes book and start taking it down.

I ordered a rebuild kit from astroperformance and I also did some small upgrades. Ill be honest. Unless you have technical know how, don't attempt to rebuild it. You need tools you may or may not have. We needed to use a press as well. It was just stupid. I would suggest buying a re manufactured one. But like Paul said it will also cost some money. Expect to spend a grand on one.
