i like the eco boost. its a strong engine thats so far done pretty well, and is made right here in the cleveland plant that my old man works at. however... the 14 mustang looks HORRIBLE imo. i was never a huge fan of the 05-09's unless they had some serious modifications done, but i do like the 10-13's, theyve got a muscular retro yet modern look to them and i like the lines. but now it looks like im gonna dislike the 14-? mustangs....

is it just me or are all these new cars looking more and more ugly? they look like a mix of euro and concept imo and i strongly dislike most of them... i think ill stick with my new edge personally

You're never going to come out with a design that everyone likes. There's only so much "retro" to go around... it will have been retro styling for 9 years.

i agree completely. but look at the sn's and new edges. theyre slightly retro but mostly theyre own design. and everyone likes them. theres always trial and error, like the 05's imo were ugly but when they took that design and re-did it for 10.. masterpiece. maybe theyll do the same for the 14's, but then again maybe the real deal will look better than the concept pictures, which they almost always do.

im just saying in general, all these new cars look alike. and theyre all pretty ugly imo. maybe after being out for awhile theyll grow on me but i dont like them as of now. for instance i thought the 2012 explorer was the ugliest thing ever created when i first saw them. now tho, i happen to like the way they look

our cars are hardly what you'd consider retro, they might take some things from the original car but they certainly aren't retro styling. And i can tell you everyone definitely doesn't like the SN95 styles lol. I happen to agree the 05s were kinda ugly, but they sold like crazy because a lot of people loved the look. the 2013 is the first retro that I think looks pretty good all around and it took them 8-9 years to get to that point.

well like i said "slightly" retro lol. and yeah i know not everyone is a SN95 fan, i myself wasnt until i saw some of your guys's rides on here, including yours! but i just think combined with the new edges that more people like them over the 05's. then again.. im basing that off of this site.. lol. because now that i think about it, your right. those 05's sold like crazy everywhere you look theres an 05 sixer. the 2013 is epic on many levels i have to admit, and not just power. it did take them a hella long time to get it right but man it was worth it. the sticker price leaves a LOT to be desired tho..

i just hope that the 2014's look better than the concept images are leading us to believe. im gonna put faith in Ford tho, most of the concepts look nothing like the actual car when its released!

The manufacturers have to sell the higher mileage ones so they still meet the required MPG average when they sell the muscle versions. It is a necessary evil. Without them clogging up the streets, there wouldn't be our V-8s.

If you think about it the SN's actually had retro styling if you think about it. The dash, now from first glance you would think it had no resemblance what so ever however, the SN's were designed to be more rounded off, now take the old Mustang dash and round it off, little similar right? Now the tail lamps, they had the vertical lamps which were also similar to the old Mustang. The SN's didn't have MUCH retro design but it did have a few.
That being said, the retro designs have been in the making for years, but I think it's time that Ford did something different. Sure it's a iconic American Muscle but look at the Corvette, compared to what it looks like now to what it did when it first came out. Nothing alike at all, that's because the demand for retro looking car's now days are not as what they use to be, more people are demanding new and fresh designs. Designs that are sleek and have a bold appearance to them, and that's what Ford focuses on, being "BOLD". IMO it's time for the Mustang to try something new. The Foxbody was a new design and look how successful that was. In the end, it doesn't matter what Ford does to the Mustang, I'll always still be a fan of it simply because I love Mustangs regardless of it's shape and design.

I'm in no way against a new design, I just don't think that the whole "sporty" look is for a mustang. Mustang's are muscle cars. They should make it either big and bulky or long and mean, IMO. Something that just screams muscle. Hell, they could revamp a fastback and that'd sell a lottttt. I don't know anyone who doesn't like the look of a fastback mustang.

Also I don't believe the Mustang is a Muscle Car anymore, I believe that got put to an end after the Foxbody. In my dictionary a muscle car is a car that was built with raw power and no technology. The Mustang's now days have so much technology that has made it as fast as it is, and to me a car that rely's on so much technology like the Mustang should be labeled as a sports car. The Challenger, Camaro, and Mustang are no longer what we'd call muscle cars. Granted it's an American icon but I mean really, can you look at a new Mustang and say with confidence that it's a muscle car? I couldn't.

I can with a fully built 5.0. but i still wouldn't call it a sports car. not really sure what the right classification is to be honest haha

Well considering that the body style isn't focused on one drivetrain, that it has multiple engine, trim levels. From a V6 to a 5.8L powerhouse, it's a sports car. Muscle cars didn't come with multiple engine selections. You had one engine that moved that car.
Now this may seem a little more realistic but here's how I'd do it....

V6 & 5.0 GT - Sports car
GT500 & Boss 302/Leguna Seca - Muscle Car

But IMO I still believe the new Mustang is just a sports car in the end. It has way too many trim levels and that's why I believe it deserves the sports car label.

You can't label a V6 Mustang a muscle car, I'm not hating the V6 by any means but really you just can't.

God, It's like they're moving backwards now.. Why don't they design a mustang with the ecoboost v6? With an optional turbo =D .. and Nix the current V6 as well as ALL plans for a four cylinder mustang.... pfft...four cylinder mustang... what genius thunk that one? why dump money and time into research and development to make a.....slower car? If people wanted a gas efficient car they would have bought a focus! Nobody buys a sports car with gas efficency as the top priority!

And to the muscle/sports car debate.... I think it's about time the mustang was considered a SPORTS car. The 80's are over, The new mustangs can actually turn and stop!

I agree, nobody wants an economical Mustang. I mean that generally. Economical=Ford Fusion Hybrid.
On a lighter note, here is "SN95 Retro":
