i bought a sct chip to try and fix my idle from my h/c/i swap bought it still idles really high. i think i got it to idle better on the stock tune. the only prob is that it runs like shit on that stock tune and idles like shit on the chip but runs better. could i resset my idle on the chip tune like i did on the stock one. also when i was changing my oil i pulled the valve covers to check my rockers and some of them had some play in them is that normal. or are they suppose to be snug.

The SCT Chip...is it a basic tune or is it tuned for YOUR car?

You need to get the car tuned.

you could always change your idle manually, its easy but can be a bit tricky to get right. and yes you should get a CUSTOM chip if it is not one, and if it is everything should be set to factory specs (idle, timing etc) for the chip to function properly.

it was tuned for my car. i was reading in the egr delete post and now im wondering if that is my problem cause the previous ower pulled alot of that stuff out and i dint tell the tuner i dint think it would make any diffrence . car ran fine before the h/c/i. i did get the check engine light on but the car dint have any issues like it does now. im looking around for all my missing egr stuff but im not sure what all im missing. besides everything that goes on the inner passanger side fender.

The stuff inside the pass fender is your charcoal canister, which just filters fumes from your gas tank... If you have an aftermarket intake
manifold (not factory GT or Cobra), and are running an elbow adapter before the throttle body, then there should be an EGR valve hanging off
that, with a small 3/4" tube traveling straight down to the pass side exhaust manifold.. If you're still unsure, you can snap a pic of your pass side
engine bay, and we can tell you if you have the EGR valve/tube or not.

this factory one. the one that i have one of the holes is about a 1/8 higher and does not match good with the holes on the iac. mine came with the t/b

If the egr has no wire or vacuum hose hooked up and its not turned off by the chip, more than likely that's why its idling like crap and why you have a cel on. Really like me you need a good dyno tune for the car to perform properly our cars computer doesn't like changes especially cam changes.

Oh and your rockers the bolts that hold them down should be snug tight the rocker will have a little play in if if the valve is closed and the lifter has no load on it

I tried the no EGR thing (was bad) and the car idled horribly, it was surging badly all the time. Put a new EGR on, runs a heck of a lot better now.
