I drive a 94 GT and I wanted to put in an all new ignition system and I was wondering what are all the parts in the ignition system that I need to get? I am replacing the whole thing so list them all. Thanks!

Why are you replacing everything?

The stock ignition is very good.

No need to change anything imo (as far as adding boxes etc.) I would worry about that when you have more mods down the road.

I would add a MSD 6A, Jacobs electronics or Mallory to it with a MSD BLaster coil or equivalent. other than that, carry a spare TFI module and coil with you. also, MSD has a plug and play harness for 5.0 TFI cars that plugs in between the coil and stock wiring so you dont butcher your stock harness. Set your timing to 14* ahead and add some new copper core spark plugs, good wires and cap and your set.

For reference, I run a MSD Digital 6 box (for the rev limiter), MSD Blaster TFI coil, Autolite spark plugs (stock heat index), Jacobs wires and MSD cap and rotor. I also have a known good TFI module in the trunk, along with a stock coil.

Ok, start with a rebuilt distributor from like napa or a motorcraft one, stay away from the az or advance brands. that will give you a new pick up coil and hall effect sensor. Then on your inner fender is the TFI module, you'll need one of those.
Then get a good quality cap and rotor, and some plug wires and plugs, and you are a done deal!

And dont use the MSD or Mallory dizzys, they suck as well. the electronics in them go out easily.

No it won't. Unless the old stuff was bad anyway.

Anyway, if you want to freshen it up, get some new plugs. Nothing fancy is necessary. Some NGKs would work fine. New FRPP plug wires, or MSD or whatever if you want to spend more money. A new distributor cap and rotor - Ford or MSD, they're all the same. You can get an MSD box and coil, but you're not going to notice much/anything, and unless you have lots of other mods it won't be worth it.

Oh, and +1 on the "Only use Ford distributors" comment.

Paul.

electronics suck is a understatement, msd shafts are also usually longer and have a tendency to mushroom where it meets the oil pump shaft. shaft runout is also a issue. stock > *
