what are the benefits?
i'm swaping a 4v so it will have to be tuned either way
if i keep them they will be hooked up to a window switch, but if its better to not have them there is no point in doing all the work to keep them.
the car will be N/A at least for a while.

The IRMC's are designed to kill air flow below 3250 rpm's to the secondary intake ports. The "B" heads flow to good and kill low end torque without them. You will need to free up the exhaust with a good set of headers. That and a tune should do the trick.

hmm so i guess i should keep them and hook them up to a window switch then?
why do people delete them? does it only benefit with forced induction or something?

Window switch? You cant do that, they open when needed as is.

If you delete them, itl rob you of power unless you do gears along with it, and the best thing to do with it would be a shortrunner intake. the delete+shortrunner+gears+tune= win on our cars.. one of the things almost every cobra owner will do to help them reach 300+rwhp... along with a new exhaust.

i ziptied my IMRC's open. i felt absolutely no lose of power on the low end. the butt dyno says it works.

people always say its in your head, but when you drive your car constantly, and you change something, you can always feel the slightest difference in power.

i hated the sluggish feel under 3250 rpm, but once i tied them open, there was no sluggish feeling.

and yes like everyone will say you eventually need a tune, and a good intake/exhaust will help

my car is an npi gt and im swaping a 4v engine into it. from what ive read you can use a window switch (like people use for nitrous) to activate the irmcs but im really leaning towards deleting them.

i alreads have 3.73s in the car. long tubes will go in when the engine does. and since the GT computer will be running it a tune will be manditory.

Another reason to delete them is because your IMRC control module/servo went out (like mine) and when you look for the part to replace it with you find out that Ford/SVT don't make and or stock the part anymore. Can't find them anywhere...sans the occasional auto dismantler or on ebay if your lucky. But even then you don't know how long those will last...they will all go out eventually and the check engine light will come on...making it impossible to pass smog.

So after tons or research....I found out all I had to do was install the deletes...and then find a quality tuner in the area to adjust your engine mapping to make up for the loss of low end torque. That is what I did and it has worked out great. Actually, the custom tune gained me 12 RWHP on the high end while maintaining the same seat of the pants feel on the low side.

IF you really want to make sure you don't loose low end after the delete....just throw in some 4.10's and you will have the best of both worlds. Extra low end grunt with more RWHP on top.
