I have a 97 GT.
Just installed front coil over kit from maximum motorsports with 300# springs
and bilstein shocks. Also installed 03-04 cobra front control arms.
I already had MM camber caster plates. What I replaced is Eibach sportsline
springs and KYB shocks (still have both of these in the rear)

My views so far is ride quality is a lot better, comparable to my friends porsche 911.
I find the spring rate i chose to be a good compromise between performance and comfort.
I would suggest a stiffer spring if you have a high hp car and planning on driving very fast.
My car was lowered 2 inches in the front, i told the guy to lower it just a little more, looks better.
Another thing i noticed with the install of 03 cobra control arms is that the rims are now flush
with the fender, before they used to stick out a little. my rims are 17x9 by the way.

Now I'm planning to put a 03-04 IRS in the rear with MM coil overs.
any suggestions on the rear spring rate??

I know this was a couple months ago but what spring rate did you go for the front?

300# springs.

I'm wondering if it would make mine ride better... i got the kyb gr2's fox struts and the eibach prokit with poly iso... it is like a rock... it doesn't roll and stuff but it is given me a beating when i drive it.

with an IRS the correct rear spring will be 550# on a coil over application. 600 is a stiffer upgrade and helps control wheel hop.

the Cobra IRS is a crappy shitty horrible contraption. I've broken mine 3 times. Swapped to a solid axle with torque arm and panhard bar and have NEVER been happier with handling, control or durability.

A little update for you guys about the coilovers
As you know I went with the 300# springs up front.
That improved my ride quality a lot. By improved my
ride quality I mean the car is very comfortable.
Also allowed me to drope the car a little over 2 inches.

The bad news is the car now suffers from understeer.
I will try to solve this problem is the summer by
putting in some eibach sway bars. in the front or in
the back or combination of both. I'll let you guys know
the results. For sure a stiffer spring will solve my understeer
but then again I'll have an uncomfortable ride again.

any advice for sway bars or anti roll bars??
The eibach sportsline springs I used to have are an amazing
well tuned (front/rear) set up i must admit. Car was great,
no understeer or oversteer. just a little too stiff of a ride
for me. city driving i mean.

Your suspension needs help from someone that knows how to set up suspension.

Maximum motorsports adjustable sway bar is really great but expensive. Otherwise, a eibach rear bar may or may not fix your problem (it could make things entirely worse). You need to define better if you want to loosen the rear so it steps out easier, or add grip to the front cuz it's plowing through turns. Given the extra low ride height, I'm betting it's plowing. Try adding some front sway bay (eibach or steeda) stiffness, and then work your way up to stiffer sway bar in back, then stiffer springs in front then in back. Remember, if you have too much rate in back it'll spin with little or no provocation and it'll do it under "snap oversteer" circumstances. From experience... snap anything sucks ass.

FWIW for HPDE type driving I use (with 4.6L engines) 350# springs in front which rides still great but the turn-in is a little tighter and it holds the turn better, and for the street I use 25lb higher rate rear coil over springs with a milder (93 cobra) rear sway bar. It's a good idea to have a few different parts of each type around if you do any sort of racing so you can swap the little bits to make it handle better for the course you're running.

I just finished slapping in my 5.4 and now I'm having to put 375# springs in front and 275's in back (from 350/300). That gives me back my turn-in and plants the back end a little harder to it doesn't spin as easy with the added torque.

yes, the car is plowing through hard turns.
first I will try the front eibach sway bar.
if it doesnt get better I'll try a 350# spring.
I'll let you guys know what happens.
