How do you tell a driverside from a passesngerside pi camshaft? Are the lobes on the camshaft supposed to match perfectly with the cam followers from a npi head???

97RedGT:

The cam follower will be exactly dead center of each lobe. It will be obvious (by looking at the lobes and followers sitting under them) if you have the wrong cam sitting in there.

I'll go see if the shop manual has a part number for each cam.

or.....a quick way to check is to get the cam and rotate it by hand in the same direction the engine would rotate it. if the intake lobe would be the 1st to touch the lash adjuster, then they are on the correct side. if the exhaust lobe would touch the lash adjuster 1st, then they are on backwards.

this pretty much only works if you have the cams outside the car. also, another way to tell is to remove one NPI cam at a time and compare it to the PI cam. you wont notice any difference (at least i didnt) between the two if you try to compare them with one on the car and the other off, but with the PI and the NPI cam right next to each other the difference is very apparent.

PS. sorry, i might be a little late on this one tho...
