Installing Vortech V2 on my 95 Vert with Trickflow H/C/I ....

The kit has a 3.33 pulley on the unit and should be around 8 pounds . What is the max boost you can run with a H/C/I 302 without blowing head gaskets and cracking the block?

Also can you add a air to air cooler or after market blow off kit ?

What size injectors? I was thinking 36lb or 42lb ...

I already have 255 fuel pump and custom tune but will get car re tuned ...

Also does anyone have any input on tips ?

*Get fel-pro 9333PT-1 and you want to stay on the high 400s.
Some people can get away with low 500s, but it all depends on the tune
..

*42lbs injectors

*Vortech blowers is efficient enough, shouldn't need an intercooler but you can always add one.

*Is the fuel pup a high pressure?

My head bolts are ARP but not stud and the fuel pump is a 255 high volume pump.

What about the blow off valve ? I was also going to add a power pipe but really dont want to much boost ...

Already have fel-pro 9333PT-1gaskets installed them when i did the H/C/i

You can add a blow-off valve...

If you are set on running 8lbs I wouldn't run a power pipe.

update

So the kit has just about 95% of everything i need but was missing some little shit like the

Alternator Stay

Oil feed hookup to sending unit ( I think I can go to hardware store and find a T that will work )

oil return line and hookup to oil pan

If anyone has any of these parts please email me or pm me thanks

Also does anyone know what the stock belt size is a for the accessories?

I just started sanding down the unit and polishing it .. I'm also thinking about going with a foxbody T body..The stock sn95 discharge tube is too small

there is no reason to upgrade the blow off valve. it's not a turbo. get rid of that FMU and just get 42#ers and a good tune.

So first off, boost is merely a measure of restriction, and will change from motor to motor, so giving you a "max boost" on a HCI 302 without blowing a head gasket is just a guess. It depends on the block, the fasteners, the head gaskets used, the machined surface on the block/heads, the amount of VOLUME of air that the compressor is pushing, etc. If you put your S-Trim on a HCI 302, and for example it creates 10 pounds of boost, that same blower on a 418 cubic inch motor might only make 3 pounds of boost; however, the volume of air being pushed remains the same.

I recommend going to www.turbomustangs.com and reading "the turbo bible." You'll learn about compressors.

Also, everyone seems to think that a stock block will supernova at 500 horsepower, but that's also a myth. At the same website above, you can read the "stock block chronicles" of all the people pushign stupid power levels for a long period of time on a crappy production 5.0 block. It has more to do with tune and RPM than it does a particular power level.

Also can you add a air to air cooler or after market blow off kit ?

I'm not aware of a "bolt on" air-to-air kit for the S-trim, but feel free to do some googling. An aftermarket bypass valve is probably unnecessary in this application. I believe Vortech publishes their compressor maps too, so you can find out what volume your pushing, and what the adiabatic efficiency is of the compressor at that volume, and the intercooler may very likely be a "nice-to-have" but not required.

What size injectors? I was thinking 36lb or 42lb ...

A set of 42s would be fine, and they're cheap.

Depending on power levels, you could consider an inline pusher pump to help with fuel volume. There are lots of calculators online to help you figure out fuel requirements.

Ditch the FMU. Get an Anderson Power Pipe. Switch to a fox TB setup. (that tiny charge pipe between the blower outlet and SN95 TB is VERY restrictive) Assemble the entire blower off the car first to ensure you have all the bolts, lines, and fittings you need. You can download the parts list with the instructions online and order whatever else you need. Buy some new plugs and gap them tighter. Get an MSD or other ignition box while you're at it. Ensure you entire ignition system is in good working order.

Oh, and have fun!

Paul.

Just so ya know there is a bolt on intercooler kit for vortechs, the Paxton fmic will bolt right up, no fabbing however its $$$. Like Paul said boost is just a relative term to describe restriction. He pretty much summed it up, and agreed if you are set on 8psi dont upgrade blow off valves and dont buy a power pipe. Be sure to bring the car to a reputable tuner. Good luck

Paxton air-air intercooler is setup for 4.6 , could be used for the 5.0L but would require a couple custom pipes most likely , the Ebay intercooler kits will probably work as well but be prepared for some customizing , 8lbs of boost on 5.0L with HCI should go about 380-410 rwhp range depending on supporting hardware , get a Lightning 90MM mass air meter and 42lbs injectors and make sure you have a 255LPH intank pump

read published books before the interwebz. people will say what is good but never fully opened their car. what works or theoretically works, may not work for you. also, call vortech... they did the r&d. it may not hurt to ask. good luck, have fun and be smart.

Hey willy whats up man its Derek I got the 42lb injectors and pro M 80mm mass air ordered. I might send my chip back to you or just buy your burner ...

I was hopping for more like 450 rwhp ...
