Just to clarify, when you state "I would try the junk yards" are you suggesting to start over and rebuild the axle with another housing?

I assume that what is being said. All of the 1994-1998 8.8 housings will fit. Can even use 199-2004 they are just about 1/2" wider over all . It may be worth, at least getting prices of an assembly before jumping on fixing your current axle. Also look for , 4x4 shops.
