no you do not need to. i found it easier to unbolt the motor mounts and jack up and roll the engine a lil to get them in.

how did you roll it? and did you remove the starter? it looks like there is enough room on the passenger side with the starter in place.

I Personally unbolted the steering shaft, and I also took off the started it makes it 100 times easier especially some of the angles your going to have to do to seat the headers correctly. and besides its not that hard to unbolt both of those things 10min tops.

i unbolted the starter un did the motor mount bolts jack the motor up in they went in make sure you have the car jacked up high the higher the better . the drivers side will be the hardest i would also recommend useing aftermarket exhaust gaskets just to save you the trouble down the road. the ones they gave me crapped out after a few months

I did this swap not that long ago. I did them on jack stands and could NOT get the car high enough off the ground to get the drivers side header in. I could not get the right angle, it kept hitting the ground, maybe if you got some for trucks you could get the car high enough, but I would just unbolt the steering shaft it is not that hard and took maybe 5 minutes to get it off (you have to spread the ears on it a little to pull it off the rack) I didn't unbolt the starter on the pass. side but it was hard to get the header down past the starter, If I ever do it again I would just unbolt the starter.

incase i run into a problem with the steering shaft (since i cant get the car too high off the ground either), how many bolts are there that need to be taken out? i think i only saw one but i didnt look too hard. i would unbolt the bottom part of the shaft correct?

I unbolted the steering shaft and the starter, doesn't take long at all and helps open up the space. I put my car on 6 ton jack stands and had them extended almost all the way up.
