intake gasket

I was just curious... When I put my GT40 intake on (with a half inch spacer) it had a horrible leak... So i put copper spray a gasket
on both intake gaskets and it seemed to cure it. I was just wondering if anyone else had to do this or if my intakes are warped

its possible that the surfaces are warped it the engine it was previously on got hot... not likely but possible....

Get rid of the spacer and it will probably solve the problem.

i would, but i have the frpp valve covers... to clear the 1.6 rockers, lol, it was a brutal chain of events

I thought all fox valve covers were the same?

I thought i read somwhere that the early fox covers wouldnt work because of how they were made with the rods. Heres a pic, are

Those look like standard fox valve covers to me, and I've had about a dozen or so sets go through my garage thus far.

That's just part of the casting. If you remove the baffles and grind down that area a bit, they fit like a champ.

You're right though - most of the "tech" on the internet is spewed by dumb kids who have little or no personal experience with what they're talking about. Even our beloved SN95 board was afflicted with it for a while. I have since laid the technical smackdown on that nonsense, and will continue to do so as long as I am technical moderator. Bad tech sucks.

i used 92 or 93 fox covers and i did not have to do anything but trim the oil baffle a hair.

this is with a .544 lift cam and 1.7 rockers.

i guess since ford used roller rockers in the 93 cobras they took those ribs or rods out and i didnt have to grind at all.

they used a f2 or f3 part number so ford did change them

I dont have the bulky frpp 1.6 rockers... that doesnt make a difference on these covers? and all I have to do is trim the baffles on
top, and I can leave the "rods" on the sides alone? maybe i can ditch the spacer then.

mine had no ribs or rods like i said....they were the newer covers.

you will probably need to tilt the oil fill tube front to clear a CAI.
